Our thanks go to Neb, a passionate LCFC supporter for writing this review.

WHAT A SEASON, I just dont know where to start. So much has
happened in the last 12 months, Yet ANOTHER rollercoaster ride
in a season of Leicester City Football Club. Here are a few things
that have stuck in my mind for one reason or another.

11th May 2002 will be a special day for all of us. The FINAL
game at Filbert Street against Tottenham Hotspur. Not many things
bring a tear to my eye but that was so emotional it was untrue.
Gladly we won that day which was nice, But how many emotions have
we all shared at Filbert Street, I bet we all have an interesting
tale to tell about that place. It kinda breaks my heart to see it
now.

In Pre season we all kept a close EYE on FILBERT WAY and its
construction. I bet most of us went to the opening days to
see how it was progressing. Yep, Queing for over an hour and half
to see some concrete and about 100 blue seats! lol!

The last opening day was excellent wasnt it. Opening the whole
ground to us and letting us wander around trying out all the seats
for different views etc etc. I was SO proud to wear blue, My chest
stuck out a mile!!! I had a sneaky feeling we would settle in to
our new home quite quickly: And we did!

Saturday 10th August 2002. First competitive game, Watford at home.
Could I sleep the previous night? could I hell! I was so excited,
I couldnt wait! To see 32000 fans in OUR new home was fantastic. And
we ALL had a piece of history that day. Our first league game and
we were ALL there (something to tell our grandchildren eh?) and just
to make it EXTRA special: we won 2-0! A good start to the season.

Sunday 18th August. *Pasting number one* In my Opinion it was
Leicesters KICK UP THE BACKSIDE, all teams have a pasting/nightmare
game at some point in the season, we had TWO (more of the next one
later) One of ours was early on! Looking back though Losing 6-1
away to Ipswich was just the tonic we needed to go the next ELEVEN
games unbeaten! do me!!

ADMINISTRATION, Can't remember the date we went into Administration
cos its something we are all trying to forget! October time I think.
All hell broke loose with stories flying about left right and centre
about the hideous debts that Leicester City had, And Jazus we took
some stick didnt we? 52 Million owed, Will players be sold for
pittance?, Muzzy? Walker? Elliot? are they going? whats happening?
we knew nothing!

BUT.......

DID the team fall apart? DID IT F*CK!! The typical Leicester
spirit shone through YET AGAIN, Players defered wages, even helped
out the kit cleaners wages I believe!
DID we slump in form? PHUH! MORE CHANCE OF HELL FREEZING OVER!
Muzzy seemed to play better by the game and the other players DUG
IN and fought on with some GREAT victorys! Portmouth away for
example, We soon shown them sailor boys some fighting spirit
didnt we? Is ANYONE actually dried off yet from that one? lol!

Despite all our problems by Mid January we were sitting at a
comfortable 2nd in the league, It was looking good, we were on
55 points, 5 points behind Portsmouth but Sheffield UTD closing in
fast. 52 points with a game in hand. It all looked at bit too
tight tho!

As the time went by a certain former Leicester player had a good
Idea, "Lets head a consortium" he thought! and we all went GARY
LINEKER CRAZY!

"wooooaaahh GARY GARY, GARY GARY GARY GARY LINEKER" came the chants

and behold! the man sorted it! and dont we love him!

THEN, We all thought "Mickeys gonna get some players in" and he
was, we had a couple in the pipeline ready for loan but NOOOOO
the fuckin football league stepped in , consisting of other
clubs chairmen they decided it wouldnt be fair for Leicester
to sign anyone! GRRR!! BUT.... who needed them? AGAIN the
Leicester Spirit shone through! we have all heard that golden
oldie "FOXES NEVER QUIT" well we should have used that one
THIS season as well. SO as ive said before it was US against
the rest of the world! But that NEVER bothered me, cos now it
proves we can do the job WITHOUT anyone elses help! And we refuse
to lie down and accept defeat! Thats LEICESTER CITY all over!

Saturday 25th January 2003 *Pasting number two* Wolves in the
FA cup. a 4-1 thrashing by the biggest under-achievers in football
history! and didnt there fans rub it in? im like: calm down then!
they acted like they WON the bl00dy CUP! But again it was
ANOTHER KICK UP THE BACKSIDE cos since then so far we have gone
FIFTEEN games unbeaten in the league! thats an amazing run with
all credit going to Micky Adams and his men.

February (ish) OUT OF ADMINISTRATION WOOHOO!!!

Saturday 15th March, Preston North End at Home. Well, LMAO already,
a few of us will remember this for a few reasons! The first game
where most of us met up. K/O was 5:35PM that day, I was in the
Counting House at 12pm! (must be nuts) Already knowing Beaumontfox
she waltzed in with SK1 OLD BOY, we had a pint before making our way
to Nandos for some feed.
So Me & Emma G, Kerry H & Julian, Shummy, Hop T Mist, Dellyjo
Foxes (AKA little flower) Beaumontfox & SK1 all came along.
MANY MANY pints were drank and I dont think many of us can remember
much of that game! Emma G fell asleep! I thought we had won 2-0 when
we actually won 2-1 , cant remember them scoring to this day!
BUT we still went back to the Counting House for more. & as
for poor little foxes! WHO DID BUY HIM THAT AFTERSHOCK LMAO?
and the look on his face when I produced a NODDER from my pocket,
he looked soooo worried! Don't know why though, It was RIBBED
for HIS pleasure! LMAO!
But what a GREAT day, made some cool friends and you were all
great people, thanx for that xx

Since then Ive met a few more, Durners, Bakerboy, Jockfox. Swabianfox, Pen1Peril. BMR, Vixenta. and James, Again: all excellent Guys and Gals! And more good friends made.

Tuesday 8th April, Nottingham Forest. For me there was NOTHING more
satisfying than beating the trees: knowing that only 3 more points from
FIVE games was needed! I was SOOOO happy! the team played an absolute blinder from start to finish! The atmosphere was excellent I was on the VERY back row and you could actually feel the stands move! And young Tommy Wright. Get Used to that name, I think we'll see more of this young un!

Saturday 19th April, Brighton & Hove Albion ** PROMOTION ** And I
missed it!! Cos of poxy work! But I had a tear in my eye when that
final whistle went! Couldnt believe it! Finally back in the Premiership!
It just dont seem right though does it? Leicester City NOT in the
PLAYOFFS! LOL!! but it must have been fantastic, Just wish I was there!
But the championship is now in our grasp, wouldnt THAT just make our
season complete? Or am I being too greedy there?

As of Micky Adams and the squad, Cant really fault them. We have
all had something to say about one player or another, Reading
different threads and opinions, But at the end of the day it IS
a team game and how proud do you feel about them all now? They have
ALL done a wonderful job getting us back to where we belong under
VERY tough cercumstances! Congratulations to them all.

We have ALL got to get together for the end of season bash. That
WILL be a nobble, any Ideas? Me and SK1 mentioned Ten pin bowling,
Would you all fancy it? let us know.

Finally.......

Well, those are just SOME of my memories of this great season, so
far, Im sure you will point out other talking points that ive missed
but those are just a few that have stuck in my mind. And as ive
said time and time again, WHO NEEDS the Liverpool's, Man Utd's,
Chelsea's and Gunner's when WE have seasons like this?? other
teams are FAR TOO BORING!!

Long Live Leicester City
